i met peter merholz at the institute of design's about with for (awf) conference.
he's done a great job summarizing several presentations from awf.
just below his post on vijay's talk, i see a short rant on the design field's lack of professional understanding of itself and him questioning aiga's role as steward of design with a capital d. (yes, i'm trying to do it all in lower case, just for fun. maybe i could start giving the first person who find's a cap a 99 cent gift certificate to itune's music store...)
any how, i'll just chime in right now to say that the visual designers should definitely not be entrusted with stewardship of big d design...

There is a new blog on Interaction Design hosted by Interaction Ivrea that looks interesting (http://hub.interaction-ivrea.it/ Check out the "What's this site about" paragraph. Seems to be a lot of similar disucussions these days.
